REFLECTIONS ON KALEIDOSCOPE MUSIC CAMP

FUMC was the site of a beehive of activity during the week of July 6-10th. Thirty three young campers arrived early on the morning of the 6th eager to learn music and make new friends. A few of them already knew each other, some were regulars in our music program, some were cousins and grandchildren from various parts of Tennessee, and some were members of other churches in the Upper Cumberland area. They were met by a team of volunteers who were teaching, leading, feeding and nurturing them throughout the entire week … and what a fantastic experience for all!!

Drew's Commissioning

On June 14th Annual Conference was held at Brentwood United Methodist Church and our Associate Pastor, Drew Shelley, appeared before the Bishop and others as part of a Service of Commissioning and Ordination. Commissioning marks the beginning of a two or three year period of probationary membership in the Annual Conference.  The process becomes more intense during the probationary period until finally culminating in another rigorous material submission and interview experience for consideration as an Ordained Elder in the Annual Conference.

Summer Fun

Hello, friends. . .it has been a wonderful summer. We in the music department have been busy, busy, busy! Lake Junaluska hosted an amazing music week. I was fortunate enough to work with Susan Pote, and also Allen Pote and Tom Long, the composers of "Table for Five . . Thousand" which was the musical that our children participated in. The week was not only an opportunity for spiritual rejuvination (the worship was great) but also was a tremendous learning experience for me. Working with such talents as Mr. and Mrs. Pote and Mr. Long left me feeling like I had been on Broadway for a week.
