Thanksgiving 2010 Letter from Cherie White
Fall & Thanksgiving, 2010 Newsletter from Cherie White
Methodist Seminary, Mexico City
Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you disquieted within me? Ps. 42: 5 &11
I know that many people in the U.S. are concerned about the news coming out of Mexico and are concerned for our well being and that of people in general, and the Methodist Church of Mexico. The words of the psalmist quoted above are on our lips constantly.

J.O.B.S. MINISTRY
Did you notice the yellow cards in your pew? These cards are one of our primary methods of generating “information flow” for our congregation’s J.O.B.S. Ministry. Please feel free to take this with you and share the J.O.B.S. Ministry with your friends and neighbors who have experienced unemployment, who need help finding a job, OR who might know of jobs available in our area.
GriefShare

Welcome to www.cookevillefumc.org/griefshare
What is Griefshare?
Have you lost a loved one? No matter how long it has been since the initial experience of loss, our Grief Ministry team is familiar with this pain and wants to offer our love and support to those in and around our community who share these experiences.
BEING COMFORTABLE REFERRING TO THE STEPHEN MINISTRY

The Stephen Ministry continues to serve congregants and the community by providing Christian care to those experiencing life challenges. As a church ministry, the Stephen Ministry belongs to each of us and as a result can be utilized by us as individuals. The Stephen Ministry, as well as the other church ministries, can act as special tools utilized as an available resource in your service to others. In the same way you would request prayer for a friend in need, the Stephen Ministry may be available to a friend that needs a listening ear. The Stephen Ministry is not solely for Stephen Ministers to provide Christian care. The Stephen Ministry is a servant resource for you to access for a friend with a crisis.
Barnabas Ministry
Currently there are 54 persons in our congregation who are no longer able to physically attend worship or other church events. These persons still have much to contribute to the life of this church and are an important part of who we are. Therefore, we have started a coordinated ministry with homebound persons called Barnabas Ministry.
Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry offers to those who are hurting or in crisis Christian love and confidential care and support through regular one-to-one visits of a trained and supervised lay caregiver. Visit www.cookevillefumc.org/stephen for more information. If you have a request or a referral, please contact the Church Office at (931) 526-2177, minister or call the Referral Coordinator, John Lee, at (931) 526-8840.
Prayer Ministry
Prayer Chain: Prayer chain participants pray for requests that are received through the church office. These requests go out weekly or on an emergency basis. Prayer team members make a one year commitment. Each Sunday attendees may fill out the prayer request form on the tear-off strip of the bulletin and place it in the offering plate. Requests may be designated as confidential (for pastors only) or to be shared with our Prayer Chain.
Pastoral Care/Counseling
Counseling is offered by the ministerial staff or referred to other professionals or agencies as appropriate.
