August 13, 2009 Newsletter JERE WHITSON SCHOOL MINISTRY UPDATE

Parents: We are currently collecting good used clothing and toys to be used for Jere Whitson school. We would like to have clothing on hand to give to children in need. The children at Jere Whitson are preschool through 4th grade and would wear sizes 3T to 12 year. If you have clothes you wish to donate, please leave them in the boxes marked: “Jere Whitson” in the church office or the gym lobby. Preschool books and toys in good condition would also be very helpful. The Sarah Grace circle has offered to help organize the clothes by sizes to assist the teachers in distribution.

Another need would be for equipment for the physical education program and after school gym time. If you have any games, balls, jump ropes, hula hoops, parachutes, outdoor equipment etc. that your child has outgrown, please keep Jere Whitson in mind. The Jere Whitson Open House was held last week and was quite successful. Many church members visited the school and a steady crowd toured the new facilities. The teachers had heard of the church's involvement in their school and they were all very enthusiastic about our interest in assisting them this year! Volunteer registration forms are being sent to you to give each individual and family a chance to assist with this program in whatever way possible.
