The Early Childhood Music Ministry is a weekday ministry offering of First United Methodist Church for church members and residents of the Cookeville area where a child's natural music instincts are nurtured in a positive environment that features parental involvement, age appropriate activities, and quality music experiences.

The weekly classes in music and movement are taught by Becky Frye.



Class Opportunities

Family Music:
4 months - 4.5 years

In the company of their caregivers, children will fill their class time with group singing, dancing, movement, listening activities, and instrument exploration. Students will take turns using assorted drums, rhythm and melody instruments, and puppets and animal friends. The classroom activities will foster music skills, personal growth, brain development, and listening and movement skills. The curriculum is tailored to each class's needs and age groups.

Class meets once a week for 12 weeks.
Tuition and take-home materials:
Single child: $130
2 or more children: $155

MMT1 Mondays 9:15-9:55
MMT2 Mondays 10:00-1:40
TNT1 Tuesdays 9:15- 9:55
TMT2 Tuesdays 10:00-10:40

These classes incorporate:
singing and chanting
playing instruments
movement and dance
dramatic play and stories
focused listening
classical, folk, and religious music
parent/caregiver involvement

Classes are located on the second floor of the main sanctuary building. Ring the bell to enter through the main church entrance. Take the stairs or elevator to the second floor. Walk towards the crosswalk and look (and listen) for room C209.
