Music and Worship Arts Week - Lake Junaluska, NC
June 20 - 25, 2010
First United Methodist Church, Cookeville hopes to be well represented and we want you to be a part of that experience!!
Adult Choir, take note! The clinician will be our own (well, once our own) Randy Hooper! Take advantage of singing with the choir in the morning and enjoy an afternoon of golf or leisure!
Youth Choir members will be working with Kenney Potter, Senior High Clinician or Ellen Brown, Middle School Clinician. Older elementary singers (having completed 3rd -6th grade) will be given a choice of experiences:
1. Choral Track with a choir experience with John Horman in the morning and rotating seminars in the afternoon. A Thursday afternoon presentation will complete the week’s activities.
2. DRUM Track – a great week of thrilling musical experiences with James Wells of Brentwood – involving world music and instruments, drama, movement, drumming, etc! This group will also make their presentation on Thursday afternoon.
Younger Elementary children will be working with Debi Tyree and there will also be adult offerings in Dance, Drama and Handbells.
FUMC will be underwriting the cost of transportation and housing. Each participant will need to pay their registration fee and food. The cost for the week will be $175 for each participant in the youth or children’s events. Scholarships are available. Please contact Ms. Kathy or Ms. Denna!
Chaperones are needed for the week and their cost will be $65. Any adult wishing to participate in the choral or handbell opportunities will need to pay the appropriate registration for those events.
In 2009 we had reserved the Brookside Lodge housing 33 people and a smaller home housing 14 people. This year we will reserve smaller homes that can house 12-14 people. However, these go quickly and we will need to commit by late September to insure housing for everyone.
To reserve your spot: A non-refundable deposit of $50 is due by September 23, 2009.
