TIDBITS FROM JERE WHITSON - September 16, 2010

By communications - Posted on 21 September 2010

For those of you who don't realize the effect you have on the children when you volunteer at Jere Whitson, read on and see how powerful only a few moments of your time are to them....

  • A first grade teacher told her volunteer tutor that two of her children wouldn't have been promoted to second grade if it hadn't been for her.
  • One child recognized his tutor's Methodist name tag, asked if that's where she went to church, and responded that it's where he went too -- on Tuesday afternoons for food.
  • Are you smarter than a fourth grader? Pat Rodgers created a terrarium for her class and asked what they thought it was. One child said, "It's a totally enclosed
    environment."
  • One eager teacher would like to work with children from 7:15 to 7:45 a.m. and would like some help any day of the week. Are there any early bird volunteers out there?

We thank all of you who are volunteering, but we could still use a few more helpers. Please call the church office or complete the Volunteer Form found on our website if you have something to offer.
