Meet our Pastors

Rev. Max Mayo comes to us from the Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church where he served for 6 years. Entering ministry in 1990, Max has served four other pastoral appointments. He graduated with a Bachelors degree from Middle Tennessee State University and a Master of Divinity degree from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta.

Max is married to Stephanie, a Physical Therapist working at White County Hospital. They have two children: Justin, who is entering 8th grade and Maddie, who is entering 5th grade. Max’s personal hobbies include woodcraft and golf. Stephanie enjoys gardening, reading, and cooking.

Drew Shelley grew up in the Covington First United Methodist Church in TN. In 1999, he enrolled at TTU and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering in 2004. Drew is married to Shannon, who earned her Doctorate of Optometry from the Southern College of Optometry while Drew began his studies for a Master’s of Divinity from Memphis Theological Seminary. Shannon will be practicing in Cookeville and Sparta. Drew served Munford United Methodist Church as Director of Student Ministries and Associate Pastor for 3 years before his first official appointment to Cookeville First United Methodist Church this year. Drew and Shannon thank God for the opportunity to serve here with you!
