Our Mission: The youth ministry of FUMC Cookeville invites youth to LOVE God and one another in Christian community, empowers them to GROW as disciples, and equips them to LIVE their faith BOLDLY in the world.

The goal of First United Methodist Church’s Youth Ministry is to model Christ’s love, to create life-giving community, to provide opportunities to be continually transformed by an encounter with the Risen Lord, to shape youth in the habits of discipleship, and to form a lifelong Christian identity begun in baptism. If you have any questions about the Youth Ministry at First United Methodist Church, please contact Krislyn.

Our student ministries are separated into three groups:
*Middle School Youth (7th & 8th grade)
*High School Youth (9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades), and

Wednesday Activities for Youth

Wednesday Night Life: After each school day on Wednesday Afternoons, our church vans make the rounds to the various schools in our community and pick up youth to bring them back to the church. From 3:30-5:15 pm youth are offered a variety of opportunities to be in fellowship with their peers in a safe, welcoming environment. Youth are invited to have snakcs, do homework, and hang out in the youth area found on the basement level of the Freeman Building. On the first Wednesday of every month, we take the youth to Jere Whitson Elementary where the youth spend this time serviing as tutors and mentors for the young students at their school. At 5:15pm, youth are invited to eat together with the rest of our church family at Wednesday Night dinner. At 6:00 pm, many of our youth go to Youth Choir, but any youth not in choir are welcome to head back to the youth area until Revive at 7:00 pm.

Revive: Every Wednesday night during the school year, join us at 7:00 pm for Revive, our weekly worship service. Revive is a wonderful break in the middle of the week away from the hustle and bustle of school, extracurricular activities, etc. It’s a time to hear the word of God and reminded of God’s continuing presence in our lives. Revive typically includes a time for worship singing led by our youth praise band, scripture taken from the Common Lectionary, a messages from one of our youth directos, and a time for prayer and reflection through the use of various prayer stations, guided prayer methods, and more.
